Situation:
Furzefield occupies an exceptional position set high up in the Surrey Hills with wide views over the surrounding tranquil countryside. Although rural in its atmosphere Furzefield is on the edge of the village of Peaslake which provides a good local store, The Hurtwood Inn and Church. The towns of Guildford (9 miles) and Dorking (7.5 miles) are easily accessible, both of which provide extensive shopping, recreational facilities and restaurants. Both also have mainline Stations to Waterloo and Victoria. The immediate countryside provides wonderful riding and walking and is designated as “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. There is an excellent choice of schools in the general area, both private and state, which include The Duke of Kent School, Tormead, The Girls High School and The Royal Grammar School in Guildford, St Catherine's in Bramley and Cranleigh School – all within about 8 miles.
The national motorway network is accessed via the M25 (junction 9) about 11 miles away.

The property:
Furzefield is a handsome Edwardian Country House dating from 1910. An extensive programme of renovation and modernisation is being completed, providing a house of superb proportions which combines many of the original features with a top quality, contemporary finish. As you enter Furzefield the scene is set by a breathtaking double height galleried reception hall which all the main formal reception rooms lead off, ideal for entertaining on a grand scale. Double doors also lead to the Kitchen/breakfast/family room by Poggenpohl and again creatively combines the Edwardian features with modern requirements. The bedroom accommodation is also extensive and features a magnificent main suite with barrelled ceiling, large bathroom, dressing room and balcony. Furzefield is approached by a sweeping drive through impressive wrought iron gates. A wide south facing terrace at the back of the house really takes advantage of the long views. The formal gardens are mainly lawned as well as having splendid trees and well stocked borders. To the west is a former orchard and beyond a gate and fence to the south is a large paddock. The whole provides a very special setting

Historical note:
Furzefield has enjoyed a rich history and is
believed to have been used as a home for Suffragettes when
Peaslake was a popular base for the movement in the early
20th century. Here owner Miss Paine invited St Mark’s Sunday
School to use the harness room as a base.
